The Minnesota Twins vaulted into the AL Central lead by going 20-7 in May. The Twins had the best record in baseball during the month of May. The last time Minnesota won 20 games in a month was 1991, a year in which they went on to be crowned World Series Champions. “I think maybe we’re going to change tomorrow to May 32nd and see what happens,” first-year manager Paul Molitor said. Minnesota, which has averaged 96 losses during the previous four seasons, opens a four-game set at Fenway Park tonight at 6 PM with Mike Pelfrey pitching against Red Sox righty Clay Buchholz.
