She was raised in Graceville, confirmed at the Congregational Church, and graduated from Graceville Public High School in 1957. Ethel’s teenage years were spent playing baseball. They enjoyed riding their motorcycle, sunny days in their boat on Lake Toqua, or just driving around visiting friends. On many of these outings their best friend “Ole” Townsend was with them. Ethel enjoyed bowling and going to bowling tournaments out of town with her best friends. She also spent time reading and shopping with her sister Mary Ann. Later in life, she loved gardening, yardwork, and spending time with her grandchildren.
