Edna M. Paffrath, age 79, formerly of Big Stone City, died August 1, 2015, at her daughter’s home in Coon Rapids, MN.

edna paffrathFuneral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank with Rev. Keith Bicknase officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday.

Casket bearers will be Edna’s nephews: Jeff Radermacher, Greg Radermacher, Tim Radermacher, Bill Radermacher, Allen Radermacher, and Jim Radermacher.

Edna Mae Paffrath was born on May 18, 1936, in Akron Township, Big Stone County, Minnesota, to Edward and Martha (Struck) Engebretson. She graduated from Ortonville High School. On July 19, 1959, Edna was united in marriage to Clyde McCartney. After marriage, they lived in Big Stone City and raised their children, Todd and Tanya. Edna and Clyde later divorced.

In 1997, Edna married Bennett Paffrath and relocated to Montana. She remained there even after his death but eventually moved to the Twin Cities in 2002 to be closer to her family. In 2011, Edna moved in with her daughter, Tanya, where she remained until her death.

Edna was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Mounds View, MN. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. Most important to Edna was her family and she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

Left with her loving memory is her daughter, Tanya Olson of Coon Rapids, MN; son, Todd (Delores) McCartney of Rosholt, SD; seven grandchildren; sister, Barbara Baker of Pascoe, WA; and many nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bennett Paffrath; five brothers: Marvin, Roger, Benny, Glenn, and Richard; and three sisters: Marion, Marlys, and Betty.
