As one section of Highway 12 appears to be almost complete, another section was torn up this week. But the overall project is between three weeks to a month behind schedule according to Jason Kettwig, city administrator.

“The most difficult spots of the project are almost complete,” explained Kettwig, referring to the Main Street and Second Street intersections of phase one. “Going forward, phase two should run more smoothly than phase one.”

Construction on Highway 12 from Ninth Street to Seventh Street began this week. The surface has been removed and the water has been tied in from the Ninth Street intersection transmission line to the water tower. The next step is to begin working on tying in the water going west on Highway 12. The intersection at Ninth Street is scheduled to be completely open by the time school starts.

The portion of Highway 12 from the fire department through Main Street to Second Street is slated to be opened Wednesday, if things go according to plan.

The Fourth Street project is at a slight standstill, explained Kettwig. Two more blocks of services are yet to be installed, but have been put on hold while the crew works on the services at the Ninth Street intersection.
