The Highway 12 construction project is going along smoothly, according to City Administrator Jason Kettwig. “It is going really well,” he noted.

Within a small window of time, the intersection of Highway 12 and Ninth Street is near completion.  Kettwig stated that it will be open Monday morning, just in time for school to start. “This is right on schedule.”

The crews will then focus on getting the Fourth Street and Third Avenue intersection opened. “That will free up traffic going east and west,” mentioned Kettwig. The intersection has been sub-cut, and the pouring for it is scheduled for tomorrow. “The intersection should be open in about a week or so,” he said.

The new storm sewer is being put in on Highway 12 starting at Seventh Street and working towards Ninth Street.  Kettwig said the recent rain did cost crews about a day and a half to two days of work, but it could have been much more. “They weren’t down to a sub-grade, so they could remove the muddy slop while it was wet and didn’t need to wait for it to dry to keep working.”
