The Milbank Area boys golf team took on a tough golf course as well as tough competition during the Watertown Invitational meet Monday, September 21, at Cattail Crossing Golf Course. The Bulldogs finished 12th in the team standings with a score of 439.

Adam Thomas shot an 18-hole round of 97 to lead the local team. He fired in a 47 on the front nine and a 50 on the back and finished in 49th place. Noah Pillatzki finished 59th with a 99 (49-50) while Will Mischel was 67th with a 119 (59-60). Rounding out the team was Isaac Nolz, 68th, 124 (60-64), Casey Buttke, 69th, 125 (62-63), and Chase Pinkert, 70th, 127 (63-64).

Conner Preston of Aberdeen Central was the medalist with a 71. Jonah Dohrer, grandson of Doug and Peg Dohrer of Milbank and son of Chris and Barb Dohrer, finished 10th with an 80. Watertown Purple won the event with a team score of 304. Aberdeen Central was second with a 320 while Pierre finished third at 323. Rounding out the team scores were Mitchell, 330; Aberdeen Roncalli, 335; Harrisburg, 342; Huron, 345; Brookings, 358; Watertown Gold, 362; Sisseton, 365, and Sioux Valley, 367.

The Bulldogs have one meet remaining in the regular season. Milbank Area will play in Sisseton Thursday, September 24, before competing in the Region 1A golf meet Monday, September 28, at Pine Hills Golf Course in Milbank.
