Upper management at Montage Furniture Services recently lined up to take one for the team. The team, the Montage Walkie Talkies cancer walk team, held a hotly contested Pie-in-the-Face fundraiser.

Money was collected in jars as votes to decide which upper management employee would take a pie in the face at the company picnic. The picnic was held last Tuesday at Lake Farley Park for Montage employees and their families.

Mike Erickson, the company’s supply chain manager, was the winner and took it on the chin. Well, actually his entire face. Erickson’ s willingness to be a good sport, however, helped raise over $700 for the team, who, in turn, donated it to the It Only Takes a Spark Cancer Walk.

Jessica Roggenbuck, a business support analyst, was runner-up in the contest, but also in the spirit of good sportsmanship refused to be bitter about her loss. She commented, “I was more than happy to throw a pie in Mike Erickson’s face.”

Experts suggest if more events such as this were planned across the country, cancer could be eradicated by November.

Other contestants included: Alan Salmon, company President; Kim Veen, Care Team 1 and 2 Supervisor, Review Team and Claim Administrator; Annavel Quintana, Trainer/Quality Assurance; Katie Andrews, Office Manager; Katie Jo Peiker, Settlements Supervisor; Christine Diercks, myService Supervisor; Natalie Remund, Customer Service Manager, Talia Athey, Customer Service Supervisor; and Kirk Simmons, Director of Operations.

Montage Furniture Services employs 98 full and part-time employees at its local call center in Milbank. Their corporate office is in Grand Rapids, MI.
