Whetstone Valley Rodeo Association names Penning Champion

High Point Winners – Dave Buri, Keith Kelly, Milt Stengel

Milt Stengel of Milbank was named first place champion with the highest point total for the team penning season by the Whetstone Valley Rodeo Association following Saturday’s event. Point totals were tallied for each event during the course of the season. Stengel finished first while Keith Kelly took second and Dave Buri, third.

Buckle Winners – Calvin Thompson, Tom Graham and Randy Schuchard

Saturday, September 26, was the final penning of the 2015 season. Thirty teams competed with perfect weather, good cattle and excellent riding. Taking home the first place money in penning were Dave Hardie, Dustin Hills and Randy Schuchard. Kathy Tyler, Don Peterson and Steve Hamann placed second while Milt Stengel, Joanie Hills and Dave Buri finished third.
The final event of the evening was the Buckle Run. Any rider who had ridden at least three times during the season was eligible to participate. Each team rode twice with the top five teams completing a third round. Claiming the 2015 Buckle title was Randy Schuchard, Tom Graham and Calvin Thompson.
