The Milbank Area Bulldogs cruised to a 44-0 shutout over the Redfield-Doland Pheasants Friday night in Doland to improve to 4-2 on the season.

The Dawgs dominated the game and started off hot. After stopping the Pheasants ontheir first series, Tanner Gauer broke tackles and cruised 68 yards for the first touchdown of the contest. Kyle Montag kicked the extra point to give Milbank Area a 7-0 lead.

An interception by Derrick Aho set up Milbank Area’s next score. Gauer broke free minutes later and found pay dirt from 69 yards out. Montag’s PAT missed the uprights, but the Dawgs led 13-0. Montag wrapped up the scoring in the first half with a 21 yard TD scramble. He added one point with his extra point kick to widen the gap at 20-0.

Milbank Area started out the second half with a pass connection from Isaac Snaza to Tristan Hall for a TD. The two-point conversion attempt failed and the Dawgs maintained a 26-0 lead. On the Bulldogs next possession, Milbank Area took to the air when Snaza connected over the top with Nolan Foss on a 27 yard TD. Montag’s PAT was unsuccessful and Milbank Area extended its lead to 32-0.

Several other players entered the lineup for the Bulldogs throughout the rest of the game. The Bulldogs finished off its scoring with a 4 yard TD run by Montag and a 15 yard run by freshman Jake Karges.

“It was good to see us build off our performance from last week,” mentioned Bulldog head coach Jeremy Tostenson. “Defensively we finished tackles and were disciplined in our run fits. It was good to see us execute our six-man pressures when they were in their passing formations. Offensively it was fun to watch our guys play with the aggression and physicality it takes to win football games.

” Milbank Area collected the win with 431 total yards of offense including 377 yards rushing and 54 yards passing. Gauer led the team with 179 yards rushing on nine carries, two touchdowns and 13 yards receiving. Montag followed with 75 yards rushing on 12 totes and two TDs. Karges added 27 yards on three carries and a TD while Foss had 37 yards on two catches and a score. Snaza went 4-8 passing for 54 yards and 14 yards rushing on four carries.

Also contributing to the offensive totals were Hall, 22 yards on five carries; Riley Gauer, 24 yards on two totes; Cole Dockter, 17 yards rushing; Alec Bien, 13 yards on three carries, and Koben Huber, six yards rushing.

Defensively, Huber led the team with six tackles. Devin Stricherz followed with five tackles while Jake Anderson added three. Dockter, Snaza and Gauer collected two tackles each, and Wesley Bowsher, Zach Angerhofer, Riley Wollschlager, Gage Sayler, Tanner Kettwig and Karges had one tackle a piece. Aho finished with two interceptions while Snaza had one. Karges recovered one fumble.

Milbank Area will host Dell Rapids Friday at AB Campbell Stadium. Seniors and their parents will be recognized.
