Adam Thomas of Milbank Area was the lone competitor for the Bulldogs at the state Class A boys golf tournament at Pine Hills Golf Course in Milbank Monday and Tuesday, October 5-6. Thomas tied for 55th place in the tournament with a final two-day score of 182.

He wrapped up the first day of play with an 88 Monday. Thomas shot a 46 on the front nine. He started off with a little trouble hitting the fairways, but recovered with some nice putting. He came back with six-over-par on the back nine for a 42. Day two, Thomas had a triple-bogey on two holes on the front nine for a 49, but came back with a 45 on the back for a final of 94 for the day. This was Thomas’ third state tournament appearance.

Gabe Heller of Aberdeen Roncalli earned the medalist honors with a two-day total of 152. He also helped his team to a State A championship title with a team score of 660. Roncalli’s coach is Ryan Patnoe. Ryan is an MHS graduate and son of Randy and Robin Patnoe of Milbank. The top 25 individuals and top six teams earn hardware.

Rounding out the top six teams were Parkston, second, 670; Sisseton, third, 683; Dell Rapids, fourth, 684; Madison, fifth, 687, and Spearfish, sixth, 692.
