The Milbank Area Bulldogs will battle it out on the gridiron with the Madison Bulldogs Thursday night in the final game of the regular season.

The Madison Bulldogs are undefeated this season with an 8-0 record going into this matchup. The past two seasons Madison has been the Class 11A runner-up.

Milbank Area head football coach Jeremy Tostenson said with a shorter week of preparation the players have had to spend additional time watching film to be ready for this game. He also noted that the locals will need to play a very solid game in an effort to give Madison a run for their money. “Defensively it is going to be a challenge,” he stated. “We need to be solid in our fits. Our interior defensive line must control the line of scrimmage. We still need to win the first down battle, get off the field on third down and can not allow any big plays.”

On the offensive side, Tostenson feels the team needs to continue its physical running of the football. “The outcome will come down to being disciplined and executing the game plan,” he explained. “Winning the turnover battle will also play a major part in the outcome.”

Milbank Area has already secured a berth to the quarterfinal round of the playoffs. Fans will wait for the outcome of Thursday’s game to see how the seeding will play out with the top eight teams in the class. The quarterfinal round is slated for Thursday, October 29.
