MilbankHighSchoolThe Milbank Middle and High School bands and choirs will take the stage and bring holiday joy with their annual Christmas concerts this week.

The middle school bands and choirs will present their concert Thursday, December 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school theatre. The sixth, seventh and eighth grade choirs, under the direction of Miriam Schwenn, will perform musical selections that include Christmas is a Feeling by Natalie Sleeth, Home arranged by Janet Day and White is in the Winter Night by Enya.

The sixth grade band and seventh/eighth combined band, conducted by Susan Karels, will share familiar tunes such as Carol of the Bells arranged by Larry Clark, Christmas Time with Charlie Brown arranged by John Moss and Jingle Jive by Steve Hodges.

“Please come and support the middle school students in their upcoming concert,” stated Karels. “It is free and open to the public.”

The Milbank High School music department will perform in concert Sunday, December 13, at 2:30 p.m. in the high school theatre. The concert band will perform a variety of selections including Polar Express arranged by Michael Story and Call of Christmas by Win Stallman. A special feature of We Wish You a Merry Christmas will be performed by the middle and high school euphoniums and tubas.

The concert choir will open with Welcome Yule, featuring the all-state chorus, by Sally K. Albrecht. The full ensemble will share Douglas Wagner’s arrangement of On With the Snow, Allen Pote’s Jingle Bells Through the Agesi and Amy Feldman Bernon’s Throw Open Your Shutters. The familiar tune of Silent Night will be performed as recorded by Pentatonix.

“Please come and hear these groups perform in concert,” said Schwenn. “Refreshments will be provided for all following the concert.” Admission will be charged.
