Gymnastics Team Starts Season

The Milbank gymnastics team launched their season with the Lewis Drug Invitational Saturday at the Milbank Armory where the locals tallied 124.40 points and finished in fourth place in the team standings.

Britton-Hecla won the meet with 126.60 points. Hendricks-RTR, MN, was second with 125 while Deuel edged out Milbank with 124.95 points. Rounding out the team totals were Sisseton, 120.25; Wagner, 119.70, and Warner, 26.0.

Senior Natalie Stohr led the Lady Bulldogs with a fifth place finish in the all-around competition. She landed in second place on vault, 10th on the uneven parallel bars, seventh on balance beam and fourth on the floor exercise.

Also placing in the meet were junior Brooke Fraasch, seventh on bars, and eighth grader Mackenzie Weinkauf, eighth on beam.

The varsity team will compete at the Hub City Invitational in Aberdeen Saturday, December 12.

The Milbank junior varsity team captured first place in the local JV meet Friday night at the Milbank Armory with 106.40 points. Britton-Hecla placed second with 104.15 while Sisseton was third with 94.20.

Madeline Gustafson led the young Lady Bulldogs with a third place finish in the all-around competition. She placed third on vault, second on bars and fifth on floor. Danica Schulte followed with a fifth place finish in all-around. She also placed fourth on floor. Tori Hooth placed sixth in the all-around competition, second on vault and tied for second on bars.

Other place winners in the JV competition were Greta Snaza, fourth on bars, and Peyten Wiese, second on beam.
