Junior Jake Anderson led the Milbank Bulldog wrestling team with a seventh place finish at the Rapid City Invitational Friday and Saturday, December 11-12. He finished the tournament with a 4-2 record at the 145 pound weight class and was the only Bulldog to place.

“This was a very impressive tournament,” noted head coach Jeremy Tostenson. “With 35 teams participating, it ran quickly and our guys got a lot of matches in. We were able to compete against the top teams in the state that we normally don’t get to see until state tournament time.”

Milbank finished 26th out of 35 teams with 34 points. “We had a few guys that were just one match away from placing which would have raised us much higher in the rankings,” mentioned Tostenson. “But I am pleased with how we wrestled.”

Bailey Schoenfelder of Huron earned the Dale Walz award while Taylor Nein of Bismarck was named the outstanding wrestler for the tournament.
Milbank will host the Northeast Conference meet Saturday at the Milbank Armory in hopes of repeating as conference tournament champions. The event begins at 11 a.m.
