“This was a game where we needed to play good defense as we didn’t shoot the ball very well,” explained Bulldog head coach Matt Bastian. “Redfield-Doland packed their zone in and dared us to shoot. Fortunately, we made just enough shots to pull out the win.”

In an evenly played contest, where the score was tied eight times and the lead exchanged hands 15 times, Milbank Area held a one-point advantage at the end of the opening quarter. Redfield-Doland took the slight second period advantage and tied up the score at 20-20 at the midway mark.

The battle continued throughout the entire second half. Milbank Area trailed by two points at 36-34 heading into the final stanza, but held on for the 52-50 victory.

“The number one thing for our team is to play team defense,” noted Bastian. “I feel if we do that, we will have some success. If we don’t defend together as a team, we are going to struggle. The guys really did a nice job battling on the defensive side of this contest.”
