The home arts contest allows area residents to enter an item made within the past year. Entries in the home arts exhibits is open to anyone and must be made by Thursday, January 14, between 4 and 6 p.m. Exhibits will not be accepted after judging has begun.
Home arts entries must be made in the name of the person doing the work and can not have been exhibited at previous shows. Entries are open to men, women and children. Specific directions are given for each lot. Participants may enter only two exhibits in each lot number, but may enter as many lots as desired. Lots will not be added at entry time. Entry tags for all exhibits will be available at the time of entry or upon request from the extension office.
Following are the age classifications that have been established: Beginner Division – up to 11 years of age; Youth Division – age 12-18; Adult Division – ages 19 and older. These divisions apply to home arts exhibits only.
The committee is not responsible for breakage, loss of items or unclaimed items after 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 16. Release time of exhibits is 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
A new People’s Choice award will be given this year for needlework entries. “We have noticed that there has been less entries in the needlework lots over the years,” explained Sara Koepke, Grant County 4-H Youth Program Advisor. “There are many people that quilt or do stitch work but do not want to be judged.
