Kathleen SchweerKathleen Maye Schweer, age 70, of rural Milbank, went to be with her Savior on January 14, 2016. She had recently moved to the Twin Cities to be closer to her children and passed away at Woodwinds Hospital after a lengthy battle with respiratory illness.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank with Rev. Nathan Neugebauer officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, January 31, at Mundwiler Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday. A private burial will be held.

Kathleen Maye Glover was born to Lauren and Helena Maye Glover in Aberdeen, South Dakota on December 14th, 1945. She was raised on a farm in rural Hecla. She was baptized into Christ on July 12th, 1951 and confirmed this faith on April 10th, 1960 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Hecla.

After her graduation from Hecla High School, Kathy attended Ellendale Teacher’s College and then graduated from Northern State University in Aberdeen with an elementary teaching degree. She taught for the Milbank Public Schools as an elementary school teacher for a short time.

On August, 14, 1971, she was united in marriage to Laverne William Schweer of Milbank. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to the Schweer family farm in rural Milbank where they resided for 45 years. For a number of years, Kathy assumed the role of a homemaker. As her children got older, she returned to work for Liebe Drug, initially as a clerk and later worked in the office.

She loved the Lord and lived her life according to the promises of salvation. She enjoyed her daily bible studies and also served as a Sunday School teacher for a number of years at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in rural Milbank, where she was a longtime member. Kathy greatly enjoyed sewing and spent hours sewing clothes for her family and later enjoyed quilting. She was often seen helping customers in Liebe Drug as they planned their own quilts. She was an excellent cook and passed on many recipes to others that are still enjoyed today.

Kathleen is survived by her daughters: Sara (Michael) Mulso, North St. Paul, MN; Megan (Steven) Kuhnau, East Bethel, MN; and Sena (Ryan) Dahl, Inver Grove Heights, MN; son, Matthew (Cassidy) Schweer, North St. Paul, MN; grandchildren: Zachary and Cameron Mulso, Elaina, Adrianna, Jonah and Carolyn Kuhnau, Owen, Isaac and Gage Dahl and Harper Schweer; sisters: Nancy (Wayne) Schultz, Merced, CA; Linda (James) Stearn, Groton, SD; Judy (Doug) Hamaker, Mitchell SD, and Wendy (Mike) Ramberg, West Fargo, ND; many nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was preceded in death by husband, Laverne; parents, Lauren and Maye Glover; and brothers, Jeff Glover and Steve Glover.
