_DSC0025Milbank and Grant-Deuel High School juniors and seniors will explore a variety of career options available in the Milbank community at the upcoming Career Day.

The annual event will take place Thursday, February 18, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the Milbank Armory. Speakers will showcase career choices within their industry and link regional career opportunities with skills, qualifications, aptitudes, and interests needed for success. The event is also a chance for the local businesses to promote themselves to the future workforce.

“We want the students to see the great opportunities that exist here in Milbank and for them to consider coming back some day to work and raise their family,” explained Milbank High School principal Dan Snaza. “We want to maintain and improve the vitality of our community, and we believe hosting this Career Day each year is one way to help.”

Career areas that will be highlighted include: agriculture, education, hospitality, manufacturing, construction, finance, human services, marketing, arts, government, engineering and mathematics, law and public safety, and health sciences. Businesses that plan to participate are: Valley Queen Cheese, Schuneman Equipment, KMSD, Whetstone Valley Electric, Milbank School District, First Bank and Trust, South Dakota National Guard, Milbank Hospital, Armada Media, and Great Western Bank.

Additional businesses are welcome. If interested, please contact Bobbie Bohlen, executive director of the Grant County Development Corporation, at gcdc@itcmilbank.com or 605-438-4232.
