2016-02-13_16.34.43The Milbank High School speech and debate team captured second place in the small schools sweepstakes at the Rushmore Challenge in Harrisburg Friday, February 12. The team was awarded a stuffed tiger for a trophy.

Senior Rebekah Tuchscherer led the team with an undefeated record in Lincoln-Douglas debate. Other students competing included Connor Lightfield, Nathan Loutsch, Sophia Seffrood, Abby Weber, Kimberlly Aburto, Macie Redmond, Tori Quade, Sadie Holland and Jessica Fenhaus.

The locals have two tournaments remaining in the debate and individual events season. “These are our biggest meets of the year,” stated head coach Natasha Hartman. Milbank will travel to Brookings February 26-27 for the Northern District National Qualifier tournament. The team will wrap up the season at the State Debate and Individual Events Tournament in Aberdeen March 4-5.
