Richard LaneRichard Lane, age 78, of Graceville, MN, died Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, AZ.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2016, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville with Father David Breu celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the Graceville Consolidated Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday for one hour prior to the time of Mass at the church.

Richard William Lane, son of Daniel and Axzine (Frey) Lane was born on June 19, 1937 in Graceville, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville. Richard attended grade school at St Mary’s Catholic School in Graceville and graduated from Graceville Public High School in 1955. After high school he began farming while working winters in Minneapolis.

On November 25, 1961, Richard married Mary Altrich at St Theresa’s Catholic Church in Donnelly, MN.

He served in the Minnesota National Guard. He farmed until retiring in 2001. He served as county commissioner for 20 years and Graceville Public School board member for 9 years.

Richard enjoyed traveling, hunting, shooting, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Richard died on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, AZ. He was 78 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lane; Children: Carolyn Lane, Tom (Karen) Lane, Matt (Tracy) Lane, Katie (Dean) Jensen, Sara (Kerry) Anderson, Nick (Lynn) Lane. Grandchildren: Nicholas and Elizabeth Lane; Baylie and Jakson Lane; Alexandria (Aaron) Lane-Detwiler, Eli, Isaac, and Harry Lane; Stephanie and Maggie McLain, Jesse and Jered (Sara) Jensen; Zack (Zanna), Lane and Page Anderson; Heide and Jack Lane; Great Grandchildren: Jullian, Sadie, Hailei and Sha Lane/Detwiler; Brothers and sisters: Pat (Betty) Lane, Nancy (Roger) Cauley, Marie (James) Altrich; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Gerrie Lane and Sharon Uhrich, brothers Steve Lane and Joe Altrich.
