Kory Bakeberg

Kory Bakeberg, age 38 of Ortonville died March 9, 2016.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15th at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Ortonville. Rev. Melanie Reiners will officiate and burial will be in Mound Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 – 7 pm at the church and continue Tuesday morning, one hour prior to the services.

The organist will be Pat Kunz. Honorary bearers will be: Members of the Ortonville Fire Department; His Nieces and Nephews; Members of the Moose Lodge; and His Coyote Hunting Family: Caleb Haukos, Marcus Krogsrud, Ron Krogsrud, Greg Krogsrud, Josh Berger, Nick Thymian, Jeff Hynnek, Cody Backstrand, Jed Wiese, Josh Haukos, Corey Stickney and Derek Stickney. Casket bearers will be: Chuck Henningson, Josh Berger, Jeff Hynnek, Jason Bock, Cory Veland, Kyle Bakeberg, Kevin Haukos, Patrick Dwyer, and Derek Stickney.

Kory Lee Bakeberg was born January 31, 1978, in Ortonville, MN. He was the son of Dennis Willard and Paulette Louise (Paulsen) Bakeberg. He was baptized on March 5, 1978, at Trinity Lutheran Church and was confirmed on September 19, 1994, First English Lutheran Church. He attended school in Ortonville and graduated with the class of 1997 from Ortonville High School. Kory was united in marriage with Amber Kay Anderson on June 29, 2002.

Kory lived in Moorhead, MN following his graduation. He returned to Ortonville in 1998. He worked for Dallas Hanson Construction until 2003; then worked for Hasslen Construction until 2013. He worked for Sev’s Excavating until 2014, and was currently working for Lake Country Construction.

Kory was a member of the Moose Lodge since 1999 and a dedicated member of the Ortonville Fire Department, joining in 2003. He was an avid hunter and sportsman. He loved nature and all outside activities. His family will miss his sense of humor, his stories and jokes. Kory was a devoted husband to his wife, “The Warden”. He adored his children and his family. He was a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews.

Kory Bakeberg is survived by his wife, Amber; two children: Will and Luci all of Ortonville, MN; his parents: Dennis and Paulette Bakeberg of Otsego, MN; mother-in-law, Marcia Anderson of Ortonville, MN; honorary parents: Jerry and Marilee Haukos of Ortonville, MN; siblings: Kyle Bakeberg of Osakis, MN; Shelly (Rich) Stanek of Osakis, MN; Kelly (Cory) Veland of Sioux Falls, SD; and Danielle (Jason) Bock of Milbank, SD; grandmothers: Gladys Paulsen of Ortonville, MN and Liz Anderson of Ortonville, MN; brother-in-law, Scott Anderson of Ortonville, MN.

Kory was preceded in death by his grandparents: Willard and Neola Bakeberg; Bud Paulsen; uncle, Roger Paulsen; and his beloved dog, “Bud”.
