mielitzashTwo Milbank Area basketball players were named to the All-Northeast Conference high school basketball team. Junior Caryssa Mielitz and sophomore Jonny Ash were selected for the team, after completing the 2015-2016 season.

Mielitz was named to the second team. She is a three-year starter for the Lady Bulldogs and averaged 13.2 points per game this season with a field goal percentage of .451. She wrapped up the year with 277 points, 170 rebounds, 34 steals, nine blocked shots, and three assists.
“Caryssa is a versatile player for the Lady Bulldogs,” stated head coach Joe Frederiksen. “She is able to make outside shots and play inside when needed. She improved throughout her career and will be looked upon to score even more her senior year.”

Ash was also named to the second team. He started for the first time this season, but played a major role as a freshman. He averaged 11.4 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game this year. He was 46% from three-point land and 82% from the charity stripe.
“I was not surprised by Jonny’s growth as a player,” stated head boys basketball coach Matt Bastian. “He was a big part of our team as a freshman, and he continues to put in a lot of time in the gym. Jonny’s successes are a reflection of his efforts working on his game.”
