Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Living Word Lutheran Church in Milbank with Rev. Craig Werling officiating. Burial will follow in the Milbank City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, at Mundwiler Funeral Home and will continue on Monday for one hour prior to the time of service at the church.

Casket bearers will be Brad Englund, Brent Olson, Chuck Berkner, Curt Berkner, Joshua Carlstrom, and Mike Timm.

Orlyn William Reich was born on May 9, 1930, to William and Sadie (Damerow) Reich in Grant Center Township, Grant County, South Dakota. At the age of two, his parents moved to the farm where Orlyn spent 83 years of his life. He was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church and attended High School in Milbank, SD.

On March 26, 1949, Orlyn married Vera Griffith. To this union, three children were born: Roslyn, Vicki and Matthew. The couple made their home on the family farm. While raising their family, Orlyn served on the Grant Center #1 school board and worked most of his life on the family farm. Although he also worked in a shipyard in Gardenia, CA, Sleepy Hallow Millworks and the Milbank Golf Course, where he was in charge of planting and maintaining the plants and flowers, his heart was always on the farm.

Although Orlyn was well loved in the community and enjoyed lasting friendships with many residents of Milbank and the surrounding area. His true passion was wood working. He enjoyed carving figurines and eventually made two crosses, one for Living Word Lutheran Church and another for Hosanna Lutheran Church, both of which are still used to this day. Orlyn was a devoted husband and father, and his pride and joy was his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sadie Riech; two sisters, Mabel Murray, Erma Hansen; and three grandchildren: Nathan Greenlee, Jonathan Greenlee and Jason Greenlee.

Orlyn is survived by his wife, Vera of Milbank, SD; children: Roslyn (Hal Henson) Reich of Milbank, SD; Vicki (Skip Suhr) Reich of Clearwater, MN; Matthew Reich of Columbia Heights, MN; sister, Irene Cooke of Goleta, CA; grandchildren: Heidi Greenlee; Joshua Carlstrom; Amanda (Mike) Carlstrom-Timm; Erin Carlstrom; great grandchildren: Rachael Barnes; Amanda Barnes; Blake Timm and Ellery Timm.
