“A Night In Oz was a tremendous success,” stated St. Lawrence School Principal Brenda Anderson. “The Gala was a night of fun and fellowship that raised funds to ensure the future of St. Lawrence School.

“A huge thank you to the Gala committee that created an amazing environment and gave hours of their time to make the event run perfectly.” Committee members were: Carrie Novy, Dena Van Lith, Susie Wendland, Brenda Anderson, Sandra Fonder, Cheryl Kelly, Nancy Kruger, Mandy Pederson, and Beth Snaza. “Also, a special thanks to Jake and Heidi Muellenbach and the staff of Shady Beach,” Anderson said. “They outdid themselves with a delicious meal.”

Prizes were won throughout the evening. In the “A Night In Oz” raffle, Sandra Fonder won the grand prize of a $2,500 All Points Travel gift certificate or $2,000 cash. Jesse Heller won a Dell laptop computer from Tim and Kathy Tyler, and Roger Briggs won $300 cash from Milbank Area Hospital/Avera Health and Twin Valley Tire.

Pat Rench was the winner of the 50/50 drawing. He received $930. Darin Snaza won the second prize of a Pampered Chef wine package from Valley Liquor and M&D Transport and Rose Pauli won a ring video doorbell from Chuck and Sherry Monson.

Rachel Hendricks won free tuition for one year to St. Lawrence School from the Motherboard drawing. Marlene Dockter won a $200 gift certificate to Popper’s Fireworks, and Megan Montag won an air fryer from John and Sandra Fonder.

Top prize winners in the candy bar raffle were: Curt Kunde, $200 gas card from Food & Fuel; Candee Cloos, Kindle Fire with case and a 10-punch card for Triple Dip Lodge from Kim and Randy Eisenschenk; and Rick Dilts, 50 egg rolls from Rovilyn Lusk.

Six people competed in the Horse Race. Rondi Scoular was the top winner in that event. She won a quarter of a beef package from Darin and Lesa Mertens. Angie Weber won an iPad Air and UE BOOM wireless Bluetooth speaker from Dakota Granite and the Gala committee, and Karissa Karels won a movie a week for a year from the Mill Theatre. Other winners were: Julie Kunde, prime rib dinner for up to 12 people from Shady Beach; Brad Nelson, Ford detailing package and $100 gas card from Food & Fuel, and Mike Auger, DJI Phantom 3 Quadcopter Drone from the Gala committee. Beth Snaza won the grand prize of $1,000 cash on the Wall of Money.

Several individuals and businesses made monetary donations and were named Friends of the Gala. Gold sponsors at $1,500+ were Jerry and Nicole Bury. David and Nancy Kruger were Silver sponsors at $1,000-$1,499 and Valley Office Products became a Bronze sponsor at $500-$999. Copper sponsors ($150-$499) were: Games Unlimited, Midland Publishing, Tim and Tana Mundwiler, Jason and Jodi Street, Matt and Julie Henrich, Steven and DiAnn Muellenbach, Otter Tail Power Company, and Todd and Rhonda Thyne. Iron sponsors (up to $149) were Coester Law Office, Sandy Karels, Roger’s Electric, Edward Jones, Curt and Julie Kunde, Kathy and Gerry Roggenbuck, ITC, Todd and Pam Lounsbery, and Tim and Terri Weber.

“We thank each business and individual” said the committee. Principal Anderson added, “None of this would be possible without generous donations from the Milbank community. Thank you so much for your investment in the Catholic education of our students.”
