Ronald TolRonald Tol, age 87, of Revillo, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the Golden Living Center in Milbank.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Revillo with Rev. Nathan Neugebauer officiating. Burial will follow in the LaBolt Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday.

Honorary bearers will be Ron’s grandsons: Chad Albers, Shawn Tol, Fred Tol, David Welicka, Bryan Welicka, Michael Tol, Taylor Tol, Gage Cronen, Lenard Tol, Daniel Tol, Butch Tol, and Gregg Cronen.

Ronald Keith Tol was born on September 21, 1928, in Gary, SD, to Lenard and Anna (Jibben) Tol. He attended school in Harris, IA, through the 11th grade and then enlisted in the United States Army. Ron served in occupied Japan driving truck and also in the Military Police Corps, guarding the bodies of soldiers who had been killed. After his honorable discharge, Ron returned to South Dakota.

On December 6, 1946, Ron was united in marriage with Betty Jean Nagel. This union was blessed with 43 years of marriage and nine children. Ron had a passion for farming and he was fortunate to spend twelve years farming near Summit. He also drove truck and owned his own trucking company. Ron enjoyed playing baseball and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Revillo. A devoted member of the Stockholm-Strandburg American Legion, Ron was honored to be a part of the honor flight to DC.

Ron is survived by his children: Dennis (Signe) Tol of Chugiak, Alaska; Geraldine Marko of Cottage Grove, MN; Edith Albers of Elbow Lake, MN; Linda Rensvold of Granite Falls, MN; Vicki Leonard of Revillo, SD; Kevin (Cindy) Tol of LaBolt, SD; Melanie (Dave) Welicka of Essex Junction, VT; John (Leslie) Tol of Revillo, SD; and Laura (Gregg) Cronen of Wheaton, MN; sister, Darlene (Jim) Bennet of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Judy Tol of Goodwin, SD; twenty three grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty on October 31, 1990; brother, Roger Tol; sons-in-law, Ronnie Marko and Sam Leonard; and grandson, Noah Smith.
