_dsc0081The Milbank boys and girls cross country teams battled tough conditions, but performed well during the Roy Griak Invitational. The meet was held at the Les Bolstad Golf Course on the campus of the University of Minnesota in St. Paul September 24. Over 50 teams and 400 runners competed in the event.

“This was a great opportunity for our runners to compete in a big meet atmosphere,” stated Bulldog head coach Eric Townsend. “Both teams had their best showing since 2012. Anytime we can score under 1,000 team points at this meet, we ran pretty well. We were very close to that. Our times were slower this year because of the extremely muddy and soggy conditions of the course, but overall it was a great meet.” The girls finished in 39th place with 1,011 points and the boys took 42nd place with 1,118 points.

Three girls and two boys cracked the Milbank Top 50 list of all-time best times for this course. Earning that distinction were: Taylor Thue, Danica Schulte, Amaya Street, Nick Batchelor, and Tanner Bock.

Complete results for the Bulldog runners include:
