Six Wrestlers Heading to State

Six Bulldog wrestlers punched their tickets to the State Class A wrestling tournament at the Region 3A meet. The meet was held in Mitchell on Saturday, February 18. Earning a spot in the state meet were Eli Fischer, JD Lusk, Alec Bien, Jake Anderson, Cole Dockter, and Riley Folk.

Fisher and Anderson led the Bulldogs with a second place finish in their respective weight classes. Bien, Dockter, and Folk each placed third, and Lusk took fourth in the region tournament. The top four places in each weight class from the region tournament advance to state.

The state Class A meet is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, February 24-25 at the Denny Sanford Premiere Center in Sioux Falls.

106 – Eli Fischer won by fall over Josh Jimenez (Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Dupree), 0:46; won 7-1 over Kyler Bauder (Mitchell); forfeited to Jacob Moore (Aberdeen Central) in the championship match. Region 3-A runner-up and state qualifier.
113 – Tyler Krause fell 1-0 to Tyson Lien (Huron); won by fall over CL Pederson (Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Dupree, 4:55; lost 5-0 to Max Donovan (Chamberlain).
126 – JD Lusk won 6-3 over Dilen Anderson (Chamberlain); lost by fall to Victor Padilla (Aberdeen Central), 2:25; won by 17-2 technical fall over Riggin Colombe (Todd County); fell by 13-0 major decision to Logan Sparks (Mitchell). Fourth place finish and state qualifier.
132 – Kaden Krause lost by fall to Cole Gehrke (Mitchell), 1:23; lost by fall to Will Jarrott (Aberdeen Central), :06.
138 – Jose Chen lost by fall to Sutton Carpenter (Mitchell), 3:32; lost by fall to Nathan Sowle (Huron), 3:53.
145 – Alec Bien fell 7-1 to Barry Browning (Mitchell); won by fall over DJ High Bear (Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Dupree), 2:59; won by fall over Matthew Katz (Huron), 2:47. Third place finish and state qualifier.
160 – Jake Anderson won by fall over Cole Brewer (Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Dupree), 0:35; won by injury default over Nick Christensen (Huron), 3:42; fell 4-1 to Kyle Foote (Mitchell). Region 3A runner-up and state qualifier.
170 – Cole Dockter won by fall over Garrett Fischer (Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Dupree), 2:43; fell 10-4 to Travis Kleinsasser (Huron); won 8-1 over Gage Gehring (Pierre TF Riggs); won 3-2 over Cade Carpenter (Mitchell). Third place finish and state qualifier.
182 – Taran Mogard lost by fall to Lucas Stoltenburg (Pierre TF Riggs), 0:23; won by fall over Tommy Redig (Chamberlain), 2:03; lost by fall to Max Schoenfelder (Mitchell), 2:19.
220 – Riley Folk lost by fall to Marshal Simons (Huron), 2:59; won by fall over Noah Fullmer (Aberdeen Central), 2:04; won 5-1 over Zeb Parsons (Mitchell). Third place finish and state qualifier.
285 – Ben Nelson fell 4-2 to Mitch Schladweiler (Mitchell); lost by fall to Ty Paulsen (Pierre TF Riggs), 1:50.
