Two new coaches will fill empty voids within the staff of the boys basketball program at Milbank High School, pending approval from the Milbank School District Board of Education.

Logan Diede will take over the reigns as the head boys basketball coach, following the resignation of Matt Bastian. He will also step into the technology director/teacher role that was left by Michael Perrion, who did not renew his contract for next year.
“I am honored to take over the Bulldogs boys basketball program and work toward building and continuing the already rich tradition within Milbank basketball and athletics,” Diede expressed. “I look forward to this next chapter. It’s a great day to be a Bulldog.”

Diede, originally from Britton, is currently a business education instructor in Blaine, MN. He will complete his Masters Degree from Dakota Wesleyan University (DWU) in Mitchell in December and has previous experience as a technology director and head basketball coach. Last year, he served as the assistant men’s basketball coach at DWU while working on his degree. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Presentation College in Aberdeen. “We are also excited to be able to offer some new technology options to high school students moving forward,” stated Superintendent Tim Graf.

Mitchell native, Jade Miller, has accepted the high school math position also left by Bastian’s resignation. He will also step into the role as the C team boys basketball coach which Troy Gauer vacated earlier this year.

“Call me a Bulldog,” Miller said. “I’m looking forward to establishing myself in this next chapter of my life.”
Miller is a cousin to NBA star and Mitchell standout, Mike Miller, and the brother of South Dakota State University standout women’s basketball player, Macy Miller. Jade Miller was a standout player for Mitchell as well during his time with the Kernels and was also a Dakota Wesleyan basketball star, where he met Diede. The two will re-join in Milbank with their similar views.
Miller is currently completing his student teaching with DWU and spent this past season as the Mitchell boys basketball eighth grade coach.

Ryan Scoular will remain as the boys basketball junior varsity assistant coach.
