The Milbank boys tennis team faced tough competition in the South Dakota state tennis tournament in Sioux Falls and Brandon on May 18. “Tough draws made this a very difficult tournament for our players,” stated Bulldog Head Coach Jim Dahl. “That’s going to happen when you are in a one-class system. I was proud of how our guys gave their best.”
Ethan Bohn, number six singles, battled it out against Dylan VanRuler of Sioux Falls Christian, and narrowly fell 4-6, 3-6. “A few deuce points in the first set eluded Ethan,” explained Dahl. Milbank’s number two doubles pair, David and Marcos Basilio, jumped out to an early lead, but suffered a loss. “The duo led 2-1 against the Roshum twins of Sioux Falls Christian, only to drop four in a row to trail 5-2,” noted Dahl. “They just could not recover enough to overtake them.”
