The Milbank High School Lady Bulldog golf team completed their season on a high note following their performance at the State Class A tournament in Hartford, June 5-6.

“There are a lot of positives that we can take away from this year’s state tournament,” stated head coach Mark Keeton. “I am very proud of the girls for knocking 20 strokes off our team score from Monday to Tuesday.”
Kylie Kasuske tied for 54th place overall with a two-day score of 204. She shot a 108 on Monday before shaving off 12 strokes for a 96 on Tuesday

Clare Van Dover finished tied for 72nd overall with a 214. She fired in a 104 the first day and a 110 the second. Tori Quade completed the tournament tied for 74th place with a 216. She scored a 112 on day one, and came back with a personal best 104 on day two, which was highlighted with a chip-in to end the day. Alaina Rausch rounded out the Lady Bulldogs in 92nd place with a 238. She cared a 122 on Monday and a 116 on Tuesday.

Milbank tallied a 872 in the team standings to finish 16th. Canton was crowned the Class A champion with a 724. Lennox was the runner-up with a 732, and Vermilion took third with a 741. “The Central Valley greens proved to be very challenging as they are very large and faster than we saw throughout the season,” added Keeton. “As a team, we are going to miss Clare and Mikaela Hoeke next year, but we will have three returning starters with state tournament experience.”

Rounding out the team standings were Lead-Deadwood, 752; Parkston, 753; Sisseton, 755; Winner Area, 758; West Central, 774; Hot Springs, 775; Sioux Falls Christian, 775; Madison, 785; St. Thomas More, 796; Spearfish, 813; Mobridge-Pollock, 826, and McCook Central-Montrose, 860.
