The City of Milbank, along with city administrator Jason Kettwig and Police Chief Boyd VanVooren, have been named as defendants in a lawsuit filed by David Mogard, former police officer with the Milbank Police Department.
The suit, filed with Northern Plains Federal Court, claims Mogard was wrongfully terminated and is seeking undisclosed damages for losses resulting from the firing.
Mogard had served with the Milbank Police Department as a reserve officer and part-time officer in the past. He was employed as a full-time officer from August of 2008 until his termination on May 25, 2016.
Mark Reedstrom, city attorney, stated the city is disputing the allegations.
