The Milbank Firechiefs amateur baseball team travels to the district tournament Friday, July 21, at Lake Norden. No. 2 seed Milbank faces No. 7 seed Sisseton at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 22.

Lake Norden (No. 4) battles Clear Lake (No. 5) in the opening game of the tournament Friday at 7:30 p.m. Volga (No. 3) takes on Castlewood (No. 6) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The No. 1 seed Clark receives a first round bye and plays the winner of the Lake Norden/Clear Lake game on Sunday, July 23, at 7:30 p.m.

In Regular Season Play:
On July 14, the Chiefs finished their regular season with a 7-3 loss to Lake Norden. Milbank found home plate first and took an early 2-0 lead after the first inning. Lake Norden came back with a single run in each the second and third innings to knot the score up at 2-2. Both teams added a run to its total in the fifth before Lake Norden broke the tie with three runs in the sixth to go ahead 6-3. Lake Norden added another run in the seventh, and won the game.

Milbank scored its three runs on nine hits. Lance Frogner and Taylor Boerger had three hits each for the Fire Chiefs. Brady Krause belted out two hits, and Travis Lester added one. Boerger suffered the loss for Milbank. He struck out eight batters and gave up five hits, four runs, and four walks. Frogner started on the mound for Milbank. He sat down five hitters and allowed five hits, three runs, and four walks.
