Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men – Matthew 4:18

Kerry Paul Malkerson, a true fisher of men, was called to heaven on August 21, 2017 at the Dallas Regional Hospital in Mesquite, TX. He was 67. He was born October 21, 1949 in Milbank, SD. Kerry was the son of David & Ruth Malkerson of Milbank, South Dakota. He graduated from Milbank High School in 1967 and Northern State College in 1972 with a Bachelor’s degree in business and economics. He was united in marriage to Theresa Foss on August 29, 1971. They were blessed with two children-Lisa and Paul. They lived in Aberdeen, SD where he worked for K.O. Lee from 1972 to 1982 as a sales coordinator. In 1982 they moved to Garland, TX with a career change to an independent representative for K.O. Lee. He then joined Marr Bros., Inc. in 1996 as a Sales Manager until he retired in 2016.

He was in the school chorus and played the baritone in the band through college. He was a Christian and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where he continued singing in the choir, played men’s basketball and volleyball. He had a wonderful voice that his children and grandchildren loved to hear him sing. Besides being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Kerry was an avid fisherman and hunter. He has taught his children and grandchildren how to fish and coached them about playing the wonderful game of soccer. His family and heritage was very important to Kerry and he taught his family the Swedish tradition of making and eating lefse and lutefish. Uffda! Kerry and Theresa (who recently passed away April 14, 2017) enjoyed spending time at their lake house in Emory, TX fishing, gardening and just enjoying the country and their family.

Kerry’s legacy will continue through his daughter, Lisa and son Paul; and four grandchildren: Cody (stationed in Alaska in the Army), Cole, Jesse, and Tristen. He is survived also by his mother, Ruth Malkerson of Milbank, SD; sisters: Danielle Brandner of Freeman, SD and Sonya Amman of Cathedral City, CA; Father-in-law & Mother-in-law; Verne & Beverly Foss, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws: Gary Foss, Steve Foss, Angie Olson, Daryl Foss, Cheryl Pauli, Karla DeVaal, and Joan Braesch.
