Milbank Runners Compete at Pheasant Invitational

The MHS cross country teams competed in the Pheasant Invitational at Redfield August 31. All five of Milbank’s runners placed in the top 20 in the varsity girls 5,000-meter race. Newcomer Maurina Street, a seventh-grader, led the girls team with a ninth place finish in her debut varsity race. Taylor Thue placed 12th among the field of 61 runners. Amaya Street finished in 17th place, Maiah Brown was 18th, and Danica Schulte was 19th.

Nick Batchelor finished second in the varsity boys 5,000-meter run. Zippy Bock came in at 20th place; Luke Wold, 24th; Alex Farrell, 35th; Carter Hartman, 39th; and Nathan Loutsch, 60th.

The girls varsity team finished third with 33 points. Northwestern won the meet with 25 points. Ipswich took second with 26. Kimball-White Lake placed fourth with 46 points, and James Valley Christian was fifth with 50.

Ipswich won in the boys division with 17 points. Webster Area was in second. James Valley Christian took third with 30. Milbank finished in fourth place with 49 points to tie with Aberdeen Roncalli. Other teams competing included: Deuel, Great Plains Lutheran, Hamlin, Aberdeen Christian, Groton Area, Sully Buttes, Potter County, Highmore-Harrold, Miller, Sunshine Bible Academy, Estelline, Eureka-Bowdle, Wolsey-Wessington, Clark-Willow Lake, and Hamlin.
