FFA Members Qualify for State

Three teams and two individuals from the Milbank FFA Chapter qualified for the State FFA Leadership Career Development Event (CDE) during the District 1 FFA event on November 6. The state event takes place in Pierre on December 3-4.

Milbank teams took the top places in Parliamentary Procedure, Agriculture Issues, and Agriculture Communications. Individual first places were garnered in Public Speaking and Extemporaneous Speaking.

The Milbank Parliamentary Procedure team placed first and earned a Gold. The Milbank Senior FFA Conduct of Meeting team is led by President Chase Pinkert. Members include: Magally Aburto, Sara Capp, Kellie Christians, Claire Mischel, and Nathan Loutsch. Callie Bolin serves as the alternate.

The Agriculture Issues team finished first and was awarded a Gold. Team members are Sara Capp, Kellie Christians, Heidi Capp, Rhianna Folk, Stewart Loehrer, Jackson McFaden, and Eric Van Sambeek. Suzanne Sousa coaches the team. The Agriculture Communications team placed second and earned Silver. The team consists of: Siri Bien, Jessica Pillatzki, Logan Meyer, and Shelby Lee.

Magally Aburto placed first and took home the Gold, in Prepared Public Speaking. In the Extemporaneous Speech Contest, Nathan Loutsch placed Silver and also advances to State.

Claire Mischel was selected as District 1 Secretary and Nathan Loutsch as District 1 Sentinel. The two will represent District 1 at the State Legislative breakfast in January and assist with the FFA Petting Zoo at the State Fair.

The Chapter Conduct of Meeting team , consisting of freshmen Greenhand FFA members, placed third and earned a Bronze, at the District 1 event. The Milbank FFA Chapter Conduct of Meeting team is made up of President Monserrat Meraz Chavez, Vice President Will Karels, Secretary Rhianna Folk, Treasurer Shelby Lee, Reporter Heidi Capp, Sentinel Jaylin Jonason, and Student Adviser Christian Peery.

FFA Chapters participating in the District 1 CDE included: Milbank, Webster, Groton, Clark, Sisseton, Wilmot, Deuel, Florence, Doland, Aberdeen Roncalli, and Aberdeen Central. Jerry Janisch is the Milbank Agriculture Education Instructor/FFA Advisor.
