The Milbank High School music department will perform their Christmas concert Sunday, December 10, at 2:30 p.m. in the MHS theater.

The Concert Choir, under the direction of Miriam Schwenn, will open with “Carol of the Bells” arranged by Peter J. Wilhousky. They will also share Amy Bernon’s “Aurora Borealis,” Eric William Barnum’s “Sweeter Still” and “Troika”, based on a traditional Russian Folk song. The familiar tunes of “Let It Snow/Winter Wonderland” will also be performed with an additional selection featuring the 2017 All-State Chorus with violin and hand bells.

The Concert Band, conducted by Susan Karels, will perform a variety of selections for the afternoon concert. The percussionists will open with “Christmas Presence” arranged by Chris Brooks. The full band will perform “Majestia” by James Swearingen, “Christmas on Broadway” arranged by John Higgins, “Bells of Joy” arranged by Larry Clark and Rae Moses, and “Sleigh Ride” arranged by James D. Ployhar. The concert will close with the 12-member middle school and high school euphonium/tuba ensemble playing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

All are invited to come and hear these groups perform in concert. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Refreshments will be provided following the concert.
