Maryanne (Hanson) Gimmestad, who died December 5, 2017 at Northridge Residence.

Services for Maryanne Gimmestad will be Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ortonville Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Lynn Thomas officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.  Burial will take place at a later date at Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.

Amy Adelman will be the organist and Lynn Thomas will be soloist.

Urn Bearers will be grandsons: Robert Lopez and Colby Gimmestad.

Honorary Bearers will be Fairway View Neighborhood’s Staff and Residents.

Maryanne Hanson was born to Henry and Anne Jane (Otley) Hanson on April 21, 1929, in Ortonville, MN.

Maryanne attended Ortonville High School and furthered her education obtaining a Business Degree.   After obtaining her business degree, she met and married George Clifford Gimmestad on February 20, 1955 in Ortonville, MN.  They were happily married for 62 blissful years.  They lived in the Ortonville area and members of Congregational United Church of Christ.  Maryanne was very active in church organizations including Circle, Sunday School Superintendent, and Fellowship Chair.  She was also active with Girl Scouts, and the local bridge club.

Maryanne enjoyed decorating for the holidays and was a wonderful hostess.  She liked to garden.  She loved to make personalized parade and Halloween costumes for her children – they always won the “best costume” award!  In her younger years she enjoyed dancing “The Lady in Red” from her high school follies.

Maryanne is survived by her husband of 62 years, George; daughters: Jane (Paul) Hegge of West Fargo, ND, and Kathey (Tim) Soboleski of Excelsior, MN; son, Henry (Sherri) Gimmestad of Big Stone City, SD; grandchildren: Robert G. (Candace) Lopez of St. Adulph, Winnipeg, Colby Gimmestad of Witchita, KS, Mikala Gimmestad of Big Stone City, SD, and Alexa Soboleski of Excelsior, MN; and one, great-grandchild, Clemente Lopez of St. Adulph, Winnipeg.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Kathryn Ann Hanson.
