Nina Brandenburg

Nina Adeline Brandenburg, age 83 of Revillo, SD died December 23, 2017.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Revillo, SD.  Rev. Thane Kister will officiate.  Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, at the church, one hour prior to the service.

Music will be provided by Carol Street and Carol Angerhofer, organists.

Nina Strege – Brandenburg was born on May 8, 1934, in rural Milbank, SD to Wilhilm and Mertle (Berkner) Strege.

Nina attended rural school in Alban Township, Grant County and continued her education at Lake Area Vocational School in Watertown, SD.  Nina graduated as Licensed Practical Nurse.   She married Gene Brandenburg, June 25, 1953, in Milbank.  From this union they had two sons: Terrance and Craig, and one daughter, Gena.

Nina resided in the Revillo area all her life.  She worked at Whetstone Valley Nursing Home in Milbank, St. Ann’s Hospital in Watertown, and Jenkins Methodist Home in Watertown. She also worked at Grant-Deuel School as an assistant librarian and teacher’s aid.  Nina was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Revillo where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion, Harry-Talbott Post 104 for 50 years.

Nina is survived by her children: Craig (Margaret) Brandenburg of Waterloo, IL, and their children: John (Dayna) Brandenburg of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Lace Brandenburg; Gena Keller and son, Luke (Melissa) Keller of Revillo, SD, and soon to be great-grandchild; one sister, Muriel (Stan) de Vaal; and nephews: Jon, Greg (Jeannie), and Doug de Vaal, all from Rochester, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Terry; infant sister, Goldie; and two sisters: Velma and Selma.
