Helen Veen, age 87 of Revillo  died December 29, 2017, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Revillo. Rev. Nathan Neugebauer will officiate and burial will be in the LaBolt Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.

Helen Mable (Seezs) Veen was born on December 22, 1930, in Sleepy Eye, MN.  She was the daughter of John and Esther (Steffan) Seezs. Helen grew up in Sleepy Eye.  She was united in marriage with Fred B. Veen on August 15, 1949, at Webster, SD.  Fred and Helen raised their family of five children, living at LaBolt, SD; Milbank, SD; Park Rapids, MN; and finally in Revillo.

Helen worked at a café in Revillo, then owned and operated the Welcome Inn Café for two years.  She later worked for 27 years at Whetstone Valley Nursing Home in Milbank as a certified nursing assistant.  She was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Helen was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW and American Legion.  She served for one year as State Commander of the D.A.V.A. and served as President of the V.F.W.A, as well as District Commander.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Roxie Kralicek of Yankton, SD; Jon Veen of Rapid City, SD; Ronda Veen of Revillo, SD; and Sandy Kuchta of Madison, MN; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, Bert Veen.
