Gymnasts Win Sisseton Invitational

The Milbank High School gymnastics team won first place at the Sisseton Invitational Meet on January 5. The Lady Bulldogs scored 127.00 points.

“We rebounded nicely from last week’s low team score to finish with our second highest team score of the season,” stated Coach Amber Fraasch. “With all of our seniors out due to injury, some of our younger gymnasts received an opportunity to participate at the varsity level – some for the first time.”

Tori Hooth and Dani Yamaura each earned a state qualifying score on the balance beam. Hooth, with her first qualifying score of the season, placed third with an 8.45. Yamaura tied for first with a 8.50.

Greta Snaza and Madison Mathews each attained a personal best score. Snaza hit a 8.15 in the floor exercise; Mathews earned a 7.0 on the bars. Jalyn Engel and Sierra Barse competed for the first time in a varsity meet.

Milbank travels to Madison Saturday, January 13, for an invitational meet with top teams in the state.
