Swimmers Place at Aberdeen High Point Meet

Two swimmers from the Milbank Area Lions Swim Team earned a top six finish in the high point standings during the Aberdeen High Point Meet at the Aberdeen YMCA Saturday and Sunday, January 6-7.

Max Kuecker finished fourth in the boys 13-14 age group with 123 points. He brought home eight state qualifying swims from the meet. He has been chosen for the South Dakota All-Stars team and will compete in the 34th Annual Midwest All-Stars Invitational in Elkhorn, Nebraska, on January 13-14.

Amaya Street captured sixth place in the girls 13-14 age group also with 123 points. She also earned eight state qualifying swims throughout the meet and posted a personal best time in the 100 breaststroke where she got first place.
Thirteen teams with a total of 290 athletes competed in the meet. “Our four swimmers achieved personal best times cuts and each swam a personal best in the 100 breaststroke,” stated MALST head coach Jodi Street. “We worked hard on drills and starts over the Christmas break and it showed.”

William Karels dropped 9.72 seconds off his 500 freestyle time and 6.24 seconds off his 100 butterfly time. Savannah Osowski also swam in the meet and shaved time while swimming a personal best in the 100 breast.

MALST will compete this week, January 13-14, at the Watertown High Point Meet.
