The Milbank Bulldogs boys basketball team split games with their Minnesota opponents in two road games this week.
The locals fell 76-62 to rival Ortonville, but came back to claim a 68-62 victory over the Morris Area Tigers. Milbank moved their record to 6-7 on the season.

“I’m proud of the guys and their efforts this week,” stated head coach Logan Diede. “They have competed every day and been getting ready to go for the challenges we have had in front of us. We have another big test to finish the week off in Madison as we take on Elk Point-Jefferson in the NEC/Dak 12 Clash. I’m excited for this opportunity.”

Milbank 62, Ortonville 76
Milbank traveled to Ortonville Tuesday, January 23, and took on the Ortonville Trojans in what is typically a heated battle. The Bulldogs got out to a slower start and trailed 43-28 at the midway mark.

The Dawgs outscored Ortonville by one point in the second half, but it was not enough to secure the victory.
Mitch Quade had a big night for Milbank. He fired in 20 points and had three rebounds, three assists and one steal to set the pace for the Bulldogs. Jonny Ash followed with 15 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals on the night. Braden Brandriet scored nine points.

Also adding to the totals for Milbank were Max McCulloch, six points, six boards, one assist and two blocked shots; Jake Fox, four points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals; Derrick Aho, three points, one rebound and one assist; Jordan Riley, three points, four rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot; Preston Morton, two points, one rebound and one blocked shot, and James Weber, one assist and one steal.

Milbank went 21-for-51 from the field for 41 percent shooting on the night. The Dawgs finished the game with 26 rebounds, 11 assists, nine steals, four blocked shots, and 13 turnovers.

Ortonville made 46 percent of their shots from the field, hitting 25 of 55 attempts. The Trojans won the game with 38 rebounds, 11 steals, six assists and 10 turnovers.

Milbank 68, Morris Area 62
Milbank used a big second half to secure the 68-62 victory over the Morris Area Tigers Thursday, January 25, on the road.
The Dawgs trailed 33-28 at the halfway mark. Milbank fired in 40 points in the second half, outscoring the Tigers by 11 points to secure the 68-62 victory.

Three players scored in double figures for Milbank. Quade led the way with 19 points, three rebounds and three assists. Ash notched 14 points, four boards and one assist while Brandriet added 10 points, one rebound, one assist and two steals.
Also adding to Milbank’s totals were Riley, nine points, five rebounds and one blocked shot; Aho, five points, three assists and two steals; Fox, five points, five boards, one assist and one steal; Weber, three points and one rebound, and McCulloch, thre points, four rebounds, four steals and one assist.

Milbank made 49 percent of their shots from the field, hitting 23 of 47 attempts. The Dawgs secured the victory with 31 rebounds, 12 steals, 10 assists, one blocked shot and 11 turnovers.

Morris Area went 21-for-51 from the field for 41 percent shooting. The Tigers ended the game with 32 rebounds, 11 steals, three blocked shots, one assist and 16 turnovers.
