The Milbank Lady Bulldogs captured fifth place during the team competition of the State Class A gymnastics meet Friday, February 9, at the Watertown Civic Arena.

The locals wrapped up the day with 128.8.80 points. Deuel broke a four-year state title run by Madison by outscoring them by over two points. Deuel earned the State Class A title with 144.675, and Madison scored 142.45. Madison won the state Class A title for 16 consecutive years from 1995-2010. Deuel then won the state title the next three years, from 2011-2013. Madison took the title back and held that position from 2014-2017.

Rounding out the team scores were Parkston-Ethan-Hanson, third, 130.40; Hot Springs, fourth, 129.65; Vermillion, sixth, 127.65; Chamberlain, seventh, 127.40; Wagner-Bon Homme, eighth, 126.85, and West Central, ninth, 120.85.
