Grant County Library presents Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls at the April event of Books vs. Movies. The movie starts at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, and the discussion follows at 7:30 p.m. Special guest is Dena Van Lith. Dena is an alcohol and drug counselor with 11 years experience helping individuals and families.

Glass Castle spent 261 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list and has sold over 2.7 million copies. It has been translated into 22 languages. The movie stars Oscar-winning Brie Larson and Woody Harrelson.

The book chronicles Walls growing up in a dysfunctional, yet vibrant family. Her childhood included years of homelessness and living in a three-room house infested by rats and snakes, but having no plumbing or heat.

Walls graduated from Barnard College with honors and became a reporter. She wrote a column for New York and Esquire magazines and contributed regularly to the gossip column at MSNBC. She also wrote for USA Today. Walls has appeared on The Today Show, CNN, Primetime, and the Colbert Report.
