Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 25, during Severe Weather Awareness Week in South Dakota, all citizens will participate in emergency readiness. The department, in conjunction with the National Weather Service, will conduct a simulated tornado warning and also test the fire alarm. The fire alarm will sound at 10 a.m. and the tornado warning at 10:15 a.m.

Everyone is reminded to listen for the difference between the two alarms. The fire alarm wavers and the tornado alarm is steady and designed to last for up to five minutes in the event of an actual tornado emergency. Tommorow’s alarm testing also serves as a reminder that public storm shelters in Milbank are located at Lake Farley Park, St. Peter Mobile Homes (formerly Riggin’s Trailer Court), the basement of the Grant County Courthouse, and the Grant County Detention Center.
