Arlo Hurley, 79, and his wife Kathleen Hurley, 71, of rural Big Stone City were fatally injured in a two-vehicle accident four miles north of Milbank on Monday afternoon June 18. The driver of the other vehicle, Gerald Boerger, 82, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the Hurley’s 2016 Chevrolet Equinox was northbound on South Dakota Highway 15, when a Mack Dump Truck traveling westbound on 145th Street failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with South Dakota Highway 15. The two vehicles collided in the intersection. The accident remains under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
