Bill R. Markve, 62, of Dakota Dunes passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Private family burial will be in Webster Cemetery, Webster, South Dakota. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

There will be a visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster with a prayer and time of sharing starting at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday.

Bill, the son of Lindy and Gwen (Wein) Markve, was born October 4, 1955 in Webster, South Dakota. He grew up in Webster and graduated from Webster High School in 1973. While in high school, he was active in band, choir, and football. Bill was a vocalist and key board player for the band Prestige. He attended South Dakota State University and graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Economics.

In 1980, Bill started Bill Markve & Associates and served as its President and CEO for 36 years with offices in the Dakota Dunes, Webster, Milbank and Waubay, SD. Bill has a long list of accomplishments during his years in the industry. Bill is a 30 year “qualifying member” of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). He was also a seven-time member of MDRT’s coveted “Top of the Table”. Bill was nationally known for his accomplishments in the life insurance industry. Bill was also proud of the work that was done over a span of years for the Dakota Valley Athletic Foundation, which he established.

In 1976, Bill was united in marriage to Boni Johnson and this union was blessed with two sons, Brandon and Blake.

Bill was a huge New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed boating, golfing, movies, and music. Bill had an outgoing personality and enjoyed living life to the fullest. His sense of humor will long be remembered. Above all, Bill enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Bill will be missed by two sons, Brandon Markve and wife Kellie of Jefferson, SD and Blake Markve and wife Brittany of Dakota Dunes, SD; three grandchildren: Emma, Norah and Brecken; his mother, Gwen Biever and husband Gene of Big Stone City, SD; one sister, Jan Boyd of Chaska, MN; one niece, Sarah Boyd, one nephew, Samuel Boyd and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Lindy; grandparents; and two uncles: Billy Raye Wein, whom he was named after and Calvin Wein.
