The MHS Homecoming 2018 celebration runs from September 10 through September 14. And if you’re a Bulldog, you’d better have some serious game. At the end of the week, there’s the all important Homecoming football game between the Milbank Bulldogs and the Roncalli Cavaliers. But the entire week is also about game – board game is this year’s theme.

The festivities start Monday night at 7:30 p.m. with Coronation. Candidates vying for the title of Homecoming King include: Nolan Hanson, son of Jessica and Mike Hanson; Ben Harstad, son of Michelle and Garry Harstad; Jordan Riley, son of Holly and Mike Riley; and Cole Frazee, son of Claire and Jacque Frazee. Queen candidates include Abby Weber, daughter of Angie and Keith Weber; Makayla Johnson, daughter of Becky and James Johnson; Jaden Hoeke, daughter of Nancy Hoeke and Scott and Dawn Hoeke; and Taylor Thue, daughter of Amy and Chad Thue.

Juniors attendants are: Maddie Gustafson, daughter of Kelly and Stacey Gustafson and Brady Femling, son of Anne and Travis Lester and Amanda and Bob Femling. Representing the sophomores are Kadance Kretzschmar, daughter of Emily and Joe Kretzschmar, and Toby Schneck, son of Sherri and Brian Schneck. The freshman attendants are Maiah Brown, daughter of Jennifer and Tim Brown and Ryker Trevett, daughter of Jeannie and John Trevett. 2017 King and Queen Jonny Ash and Katie Vander Wal will return from SDSU to crown the new royalty.

The night concludes with the annual hot dog feed in the cafeteria and the burning of the M in the parking lot east of the school and north of the football field.

Each class selected a classic board game for their skit. The seniors chose Clue, the juniors chose Life, the sophomores selected Monopoly, and the freshman went with Operation. During the week, the students will play dress up:

Monday- Country vs Country Club
Tuesday- Senior Day
Wednesday- Halloween Wednesday
Thursday- Meme/Vine Day
Friday- Maroon and Gold

Homecoming week activities also include: Minute to Win It, the Dating Game, Tug o’ Tricycle, cheerleading skit, bean bag tourney, board games, and building floats.

The 2018 Homecoming button, designed by Caitlin Stricherz, will be sold for $1 by the MHS Student Council on Monday night at Coronation, Tuesday morning before school at St. Lawrence School, and Wednesday at Koch School. If extra buttons are available, the student council will sell to the business community during the noon hour.

The week culminates with the Homecoming parade at 2 p.m. on Friday, and the football game against Roncalli. Kick-off is 7 p.m. The Homecoming dance follows the game.
