The MHS cross country teams hosted the Milbank Hardees Invitational at Pine Hills Golf Course on Saturday, September 8. Three states were represented by 15 teams. According to Milbank’s Coach Eric Townsend, “There were 378 runners running in nine races, including the three Bullpup runs. This is the second largest number of runners we have ever had run in this meet.”

The Lady Bulldogs finished second. Five runners placed in the top 16. “It has been a long time since we have had that many girls place that high in this meet,” Townsend said.

Taylor Thue came in at seventh place with a time of 21:39:88. Amaya Street took 12th place, Maurina Street took 13th, Maiah Brown came in at 14th, and Elisabeth Schwenn earned 16th.

The Bulldog boys’ team finished third and was ranked the highest South Dakota team. They placed two runners in the top 11 places. Nick Batchelor finished fourth with a time of 17:20:86 and Zippy Bock came in at 11th.

Townsend said, “I felt both teams ran much better than they had the week before in the Redfield meet. Both teams are having great practices, and we are hoping these great workouts will continue to help us improve throughout the season.
