Joyce J. Folk, age 76, of Milbank died September 9, 2018, at St. Williams Care Center.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Milbank. Rev. Dr. DeVern Schwenn will officiate, and burial will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank from 5 – 7 p.m. and continue at the church on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.

Casket bearers will be: Josh Trapp, Brandon Folk, Casey Rise, Elliott Wohlleber, Andy Wall, Kevin Van Hout, and Devon Dexter. Honorary bearers will be all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Joyce Jean (Reynen) Folk was born on June 6, 1942, in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Arthur “Bud” and Gladys (Darling) Reynen. Joyce grew up in Milbank, attending Koch Elementary and Milbank High School. She worked for Snow-White Laundry in High School. Joyce married Charles Folk on April 23, 1960, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank and they had 48 wonderful years together.

Joyce worked with the Visiting Neighbor Program from 1976 – 1989. She worked at St. Bernard’s Hospital from 1989-1994, and again from 1995-2014. After her retirement in 2004, Joyce took care of her husband and grandchildren. She also loved to travel with Charles and remembers having a snowball fight in Montana on the Fourth of July. Joyce collected dolls, enjoyed cross stich, and shared an interest in the two-cylinder club with her husband. She loved spending holidays with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed making sugar cut out cookies with them. She looked forward to seeing and taking care of her grandchildren, they were the light of her life. Joyce was the life of the party, compassionate, and she cared for everyone. She lived at home after Charles died in 2008 and moved to St. Williams Care Center in 2014.

Joyce is survived by: children, Sandy (Charles) Trapp of Milbank, Tami Rise (Ryan Barnhardt) of Milbank, Dean Folk of Dawson, MN, Carla (Scott) Trapp of Milbank, Jason Folk of Waverly, Cory (Darla) Folk of Big Stone City; sisters, Betty (Leo) Folk of Milbank, Barb (Larry) Bohn of Corona; brother, Reverend Donald (Evelyn) Reynen of Mitchell; fifteen grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great- great- grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; sister, Donna Thyne; brother, Marlin Reynen; and great – granddaughter, Kinley Van Hout.
